Like a great number of American's, the author and illustrator of Hayseed's First Race, Sally Schrock, has lost her home
to a predatory lender. On January 23, 2010, an article by noted columnist Al Lewis brought Ms. Scrock's story to the
world. After being interviewed for the piece, Caballo Press' CEO and Publisher, Rudolph Valier Alvarado, decided to join
Mr. Lewis' efforts in bringing attention to Ms. Schrock's ordeal. With this in mind, the decision was made to give friends
and patrons an opportunity to preview Ms. Schrock’s book.

The goal behind this resolution was to generate pre-orders of the book in order to provide Ms. Schrock an opportunity to
buy back her home or at the very least to have a home she can move into if she is forced out of her current residence.
Most importantly, the choice to allow friends and patrons to preview the book was made so they could see that Ms.
Schrock’s work certainly stands on its own merits and that the positive impact her work will have on children suffering
    with self-esteem issues is immeasurable.

Since Ms. Shrock's story was made public, a number of individuals have joined us in our efforts to assist Ms. Schrock.
One of those individuals is Linda Wright. She has started a Facebook fanpage called “Fans of Sally & Hayseed." The
goal of the fanpage is to bring attention to Ms. Shrock’s book before it’s release on April 14. In addition to Ms. Wright's
initiative, a number of individuals have taken up Ms. Schrock's cause. During these hard times, when people are
suffering around the world, we are deeply humbled by the concern shown by these members of the equine community.

From the beginning, it has been the mission of Caballo Press of Ann Arbor to assist non-profit organizations related to
the equine industry. To acheive this goal, a portion of the profits from all of our books are donated to various causes
related to the equine industry. Shortly after making the decision to publish Ms. Schrock's book, it was decided that a
portion of the book's profits would be donated to Anna House, the non-profit childcare center located on the grounds of
Belmont Race Track. We are proud of this association and grateful of the fact that we have an opportunity to not only
assist Ms. Schrock, but Anna House as well.

Below you will find a number of links that will provide you with an opportunity to learn more about the plight faced by Ms.
Schrock as well as an opportunity to learn more about Anna House. If you have any questions or comments, please
direct them to Dr. Rudolph Valier Alvarado at admin@caballopress.com.
